Aegion Corporation Awarded $5.6 Million CIPP Contract from the City of Crest Hill, Illinois
ST. LOUIS, MO, November 21, 2011 – Aegion Corporation (Nasdaq Global Select Market: AEGN) announced today that its subsidiary, Insituform Technologies, Inc., has been awarded a $5.6 million contract from the City of Crest Hill, Illinois.
Insituform expects to install approximately 135,000 feet of small- to medium-diameter Insituform® cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) in residential neighborhoods throughout Crest Hill, beginning in January 2012.
“Since the first CIPP installation in 1971, Insituform has completed projects around the world. Using this global experience, our operations and project management teams are focused on working to provide solutions that make sense in every community. The rehabilitation of the wastewater pipelines in Crest Hill will provide its citizens with a solution that restores structural integrity. We expect the citizens of Crest Hill will experience minimal disruption throughout this project.” said Ken Foster, Vice President and General Manager for Insituform.
Aaron E. Fundich, Principal Engineer for Robinson Engineering said, “Robinson Engineering has been working with the City of Crest Hill since 2008 to develop a solution to address ongoing structural deficiencies and inflow/infiltration issues for a pipeline system that has received minimal maintenance since its installation over 50 years ago. Insituform® CIPP was selected to rehabilitate over 25 miles of aging pipelines because of the non-disruptive installation method as well as its capability to increase flow capacity, improve structural capability and reduce infiltration.”
It is expected that Insituform’s proprietary air inversion steam cure installation method will be used throughout the project. This installation method reduces energy and water usage by approximately 95 percent.
