Be a Clean Water Advocate
"Water is life's matter and matrix, mother and medium. There is no life without water."
~Albert Szent-Gyorgyi, Hungarian biochemist and Nobel Prize Winner for Medicine.
Did you know that many of the underground pipes carrying the nation's water are 50, 60 and even 100 years old? Many of these pipes are damaged and leaking water at alarming rates. In fact, the American Society of Civil Engineers states that six billion gallons of clean, drinkable water are being lost each day due to these aged, leaking pipes and mains.
The nation's sewer pipes are in failing condition as well. When sewer pipes leak, water becomes contaminated and can lead to illnesses. Raw sewage can wash up on beaches and millions of dollars of preventable damage can occur.
The bad news is that the problem grows worse each day it is not addressed. The good news is, by becoming a clean water advocate, you can join the noble cause of helping save the world's most precious resource- water.
Be an advocate by supporting your local leaders as they work to upgrade the vital infrastructure of sewers and water mains running below the ground. We encourage you to support rate increases and bond issues that will help fund much-needed infrastructure renewal projects.
