Carrollton Pipe Renewal
Water engineers in Carrollton, Texas needed an innovative solution to fix 420 feet of 12-inch water main and tackle four 45° bends for a leaking water pipe located in a protected wetlands and residential area. The pipeline ran directly through residential yards and a small stream.
Due to its cost-effective and eco-friendly nature, Thermopipe® was deemed the best solution. The Thermopipe® liner was installed in one day, using only two small access pits, each approximately 4 feet by 8 feet. In as sensitive wetlands area, Thermopipe® provided a pre-engineered, jointless, leak-free and long-term solution.
Thermopipe® is a thin reinforced polyethylene liner that is ideally
suited for rehabilitation of distribution water mains and other
pressurized piping systems of up to 12 inches in diameter. Supplied as
a factory-folded “C” shape liner, the Thermopipe® is winched into the
host pipe from a reel and reverted with air and steam. Once inflated
and heated, the liner forms a close-fit within the host pipe, creating
a jointless, leak-free lining system able to independently carry the
full system internal design pressure. The installation process is
simple and can usually be completed within an 8-hour time period.
In addition to potable water distribution mains, Thermopipe® may be suitable for: • Sewer force mains • Fire water mains • Industrial pressure applications
